Diabetic Retinopathy |
A metabolic disease
associated with vascular damage and exudates in the retina, with late
stage surgical intervention for vitreous bleeding, diabetic
retinopathy is a concern for public health. In addition to eye and
visual consequences, diabetes affects peripheral nerves and can lead to
amputation of a limb with possible loss of mobility and associated
hardship.
Ben Vision Research has developed a
visual interface that helps quantify nerve damage secondary to diabetic
changes in the eye and early post-retinal pathways. This will serve
not only eye doctors, but also physicians who manage endocrine or
nutritional variables.
